The rough seas and windy conditions along Ireland's spectacular coastline create the perfect conditions for this challenging and exhilarating sport. Whether you are a seasoned rider looking for a new challenge or a beginner who would like to try out this exciting watersport, Ireland offers some of the best windsurfing in Europe.

The beaches lining the coastline of County Kerry offer the best windsurfing in Ireland. Windsurfers from all over Europe descend on the location every year, drawn by the region's spectacular beauty and large swells. Shops offering rentals and lessons abound along the coast. The beaches around the Dingle Peninsula have conditions that are suitable for windsurfers ranging from beginners to pros. Brandon Bay, in particular, is a must for keen sailors, as the wide horseshoe shaped beach is suitable for windsurfing in almost every wind direction. There are several famous windsurfing sites around the town of Waterville. Ballinskelligs Bay, with its 48 km of open water, provides some especially exciting sailing.

Kilkee in County Clare is another prime windsurfing location in Ireland. There is a world-class instruction school available offering a five-day intensive clinic for beginners. Known as one of the windiest spots in the country, Belmullet in County Mayo is another favourite location for Irish windsurfers.
