Shongweni Dam and Game Reserve - just 30 minutes from Durban - from awe inspiring cliffs and waterfalls, to lush forests, this reserve offers water sports, fishing, games drives and camping - a piece of true Africa. ... more

Canoeing is a peaceful, relaxing and enjoyable way to experience South Africa. South Africa has plenty of stunning locations for you and your family to enjoy canoeing.

The ultimate canoeing experience in South Africa would have to be a multi-day trip along the Orange River on the border with Namibia. These trips range from four to six days in length and several companies completely organize your trip including full catering, equipment and transportation.

All you need are your clothes, a sleeping bag, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure. Most begin at or near the border post of Vioolsdrift, east of Alexander Bay. Remember your passport as most trips require you to pass back through the border back into South Africa.

Another possibility is a trip down the Breede River in the Western Cape. You can start either at Swellendam or Worcester, and embark on a two-day, two-night, fully catered expedition. One day trips or overnight trips are also offered. Trips are available year around except for the months of June, July and August when river levels are too high.
