Anyone with bungee jumping on their agenda should stop over at Tsitsikamma on the eastern edge of the Garden Route. This area boasts the world's highest commercially operated bungy jump at 216m. After traversing across a specially designed catwalk, the latest in bungee technology is strapped to your ankles and you dive head first toward the Bloukrans River. This is the ultimate adrenalin rush and definitely not for the faint-hearted.

Mossel Bay, on the western side of the Garden Route, also boasts a prime bungee jumping location. Their jump allow you to fall feet first and you can leap in tandem if you would like to share the experience with someone special.

If the freefalls on the Garden Routes were not enough for you, head to Johannesburg for the unique concept of fan jumping. This technique is used to train paratroopers in the army. It involves jumping from 55m, attached to a cable strung up to a fan that provides resistance. This means that you fall at less than freefall speed, and a brake stops you just before you hit the ground.
