If you want to test your sea legs, there are various opportunities to go out on a boat trip in South Africa. Everything is on offer from trips on sail boats to luxury boat charters and leisurely tours around harbour fronts. It is a wonderful way to spend a hot summer afternoon and provides a unique vantage point to see South Africa's beautiful coastlines.

Situated on False Bay, Cape Town has the most boat trips to offer. Everything is available from sailing in luxury yachts to high speed water adventures and glass bottomed boats. The V&A Waterfront has several operators that take you on tours of the historic harbour or out to Seal Island.

Durban is an excellent location for luxury fishing and yachting charters, either for rental for special occasions or just for a day out with the family.

The Kynsna Lagoon is a peaceful estuary situated on the Garden Route. Several companies operate cruises on the lagoon, including dinner and sunset sailings.

The ferry to the Featherbed Reserve on the Knysna Heads is not to be missed. If you would like to see hippopotamuses and crocodiles, head to St Lucia for a leisurely cruise around Lake St. Lucia, a World Heritage Site. A bonus is that a portion of your fare goes toward conservation efforts in the area.
