There is nothing like a cold beer on a hot day, and South Africa provides several breweries and microbrew pubs to ensure your glass is never empty.
South Africa's 'national' beer is Castle Lager, brewed by The South African Breweries Limited. The iconic beer is brewed in several places across the country, and brewery visits and tours are available in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Polokwane and Pretoria.
If microbreweries are more your style, there are two available in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. These give visitors a chance to drink the beer where it is made and enjoy a satisfying meal at the same time.
In Durban in KwaZulu Natal, visitors have a chance to taste and see the brewing process of Sorghum, the traditional beer of the Zulus. There are also brew pubs if you want to try something different.
